I don’t know what it is about the rain but it makes the fish go nuts. Possibly the dropping pressure and the rain mixing the water to add more oxygen but whatever it is it works. It is getting hot here in June and the fishing is even hotter. Lake Texoma water temperature is 79° and the elevation is at 620 (1 ft above normal). The fish have moved out in the deeper water. I have been fishing in 60-80 ft. of water on anchor with live shad fished 40-60ft down. Most mornings have been as fast as you can get the bait down. Right now . . .

The falling water level has defiantly improved the fishing. Lake Texoma water temperature is at 69° and the elevation is now at 625 (7 ft. above normal) and falling. They are currently releasing water at 30,000 CFS at a constant rate which is dropping the lake about 6-8” per day. All the boat ramps and campgrounds should be opened back up in a couple of weeks.

Striper fishing on Lake Texoma the first part of July as started out extremely good. We are finding large schools of stripers working the surface in open water and also in the shallows early in the morning. This sure makes for easy pickings. Over the past week fishing on Lake Texoma, I have seen a big change in the size of striper's being caught. Some very good sized fish are being caught early in the morning, just after sunup, on shallow waters, 2 feet and less on "Pencil Poppers". A lot more seagulls are also starting to work the water. Our last four weeks of striper fishing on Lake Texoma has been outstanding. I have spoken with guides who have fished Lake Texoma for twenty years and more and they all agree that the fishing has been the best they have ever seen. The Lake Texoma pool elevation of Lake Texoma has hovered just under 624 feet for the past week which is about 7 feet above normal. The water temperature is 71-76 degrees depending where in the lake you are and the water is off color.
